How to get to the Resource for Biocomputing, Visualization, and Informatics

[Bird's eye view of MB campus] On February 8, 2003 we were among the first research groups to move to the new UCSF Mission Bay campus. Situated in the Mission Bay district of San Francisco, the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) Mission Bay campus is located near the intersection of 16th and 3rd streets. The Resource for Biocomputing, Visualization, and Informatics (RBVI) is located on the southwest corner of campus in Genentech Hall (see campus map).

A detailed set of directions to the UCSF Mission Bay campus is available.

A scalable, printable Google street map provides a good means of finding your way here. If you are using public transportation, "511 Transit" provides a wealth of information for planning your trip.

If you need a hotel to stay in, here's a list of nearby hotels.

Once you're on campus...

It's pretty easy to find Genentech Hall. It's the largest building on the Mission Bay campus (see campus map). The main entrance is on the north-east corner of the building. If you're driving you can park in the main lot right off of 4th street. If you're coming from another UCSF campus location on one of the shuttle buses, the shuttle stops in front of the parking lot. Either way, walk along the paved pathway next to the new QB3 building until you come to the circular steps leading up to the 2nd floor terrace. Don't go up the steps, but rather enter through the double steel and glass doors to your left. Visitors must sign in at the security guard station. Then use the elevators immediately behind the guard station and take one to the 4th floor. We're at the far end of the building, on the right (north) side of the main corridor. Call the phone number listed above if you have any problems or would like to be escorted from the security guard station.

Wish you were here right now, but can't be?

How about images of San Francisco and the Bay from a video camera feed instead (about 1/4 MB of data, updated every 5 minutes)? If the picture is all black, it's after dark here. If the picture is all white, it's likely just bay area fog.
