Protein and DNA sequence databses, including primary, secondary, curated, motif, and domain databases, are available for browsing, homology, and comparison searching through CGL's Sequence Analysis & Consulting Service. A list of these databases is available here.
We maintain local copies of the major molecular structure databases:A CGL staff member can help you access these databases.
- Protein Data Bank - 3-D macromolecular structure data primarily determined experimentally by X-ray crystallography and NMR
- Cambridge Structural Database - crystal structure information for over 220,000 organic and metal organic compounds that have been analysed using X-ray or neutron diffraction techniques
- IsoStar - a database of experimental and theoretical information on non-bonded contact information extracted from the CSD and the PDB
Access to extensive literature databases are available through UCSF's GALEN II digital library system. This includes a customized interface to the MEDLINE database known as PubMed@UCSF. Over 100 major electronic journals are now accessible on-line, and there is also a growing collection of "Ejournals" available from the California Digital Library.
An on-line directory service is available for finding people at UCSF and other University of California campuses.
