Solves two issues with using the standard setuptools build pipeline with ctypes. One (minor, but annoying): the compiled library gets an unnecessary platform-specific addition to its filename (e.g. ""_geometry.cpython-36m-x86_64-linux-gnu.so"") which has to be dealt with when working out the filename to import.
