Hi Ravi,

I start Sparky on the Mac by double-clicking the icon. I can start it from a terminal like so

/Users/goddard/Desktop/Sparky 3.115.app/Contents/MacOS/sparky

I have a space in the path between Sparky and 3.115 and I put a backslash in front of the space to escape it. I could instead put quotes around the whole thing. But it would be insane to type such a long command to start Sparky. There are half a dozen ways I could avoid that and just type sparky, for example editing my executable search path (PATH variable) in my shell startup file (~/.bashrc), or adding an alias, or adding a symbolic link, or creating a shell script, .... This is all standard unix stuff and if you want to use a terminal on the Mac you should search online and find out how that basic unix stuff is done.

Dear Tom
How did you solved the space problem of Sparky 3.115 in defining the path. I have installed sparky but when I type the command sparky in terminal it says no command Volume/Sparky.. I guess the problem is with the space. I would appreciate if you let us know how you handled it.
regards
Ravi

Hi Aikaterini,

I installed XQuartz version 2.7.4 on my Mac OS 10.8 (Mountain Lion) machine

http://xquartz.macosforge.org/landing/

and Sparky 3.115 ran without any trouble. When I installed XQuartz it said I have to log out then log back in for it to become my default X server. So I did that before starting Sparky. Maybe that is important.
