Subject: Moving Sparky files Linux to Windows
From: Thomas Goddard
Date: Jun 10, 2010

The Sparky spectrum session files (*.save) contain a path to the
spectrum data file. A relative path (e.g. ../data/hnco.ucsf) is used if
the spectra are saved in a parallel directory or the same directory as
the session files. In other cases it may use a full path. A full path
isnt going to be the same on Linux and Windows. In that case Sparky
will ask you when you try to open that session file where the spectrum
data is. Then you can save the spectrum session with the corrected
path. That describes the usual behavior. The session files are text
and you can look at them in an editor and search for path to find
these paths to the spectrum data. You didnt give any details about
error messages or in what way it doesnt work so it is hard to give any
better advise.

Sparky Administrator,

I have been attempting to transfer my sparky files from
the Linux machine to my laptop (windows) so I could work on my
assignments at home or while traveling. I was successful in getting the
files to my windows machine but upon trying to open the files I can only
open unassigned spectra. I have searched through the message
boards, Google, and the sparky manual for help with this problems but
have been unsuccessful. I would appreciate it if you could tell me the
secret to taking my assigned spectra from the Linux machine and being
able to open assigned spectra on my windows machine. The Linux machine
uses red hat for the OS and uses sparky 3.113.

Thanks,
