Actually regarding the java thing I was wrong. The files youve been told
you need libstdc++.so.5 were needed for my gfx card and hence I put them on
there )obv after I first tried to install sparky.

The java is needed though for the autoassign module (well ok it may not be
needed as I was wrong before, but, if you follow the instructions for the FC
4 site I sent for java I know it will run after doing the install script)

thank you James!
Heres the thing: our lab buy a new computer with cpu is intel P630(p4
3.0GHz, 2M cache, 800MHz bus frequency, HT). When I install Red Hat 9
with the kernel 2.4.20 on this machine, everything seems ok, and I
install the software(NMRPipe, Sparky, Aria2 and CNS) smoothly. But
when I make a compare with another machine(P4 2.4GHz, while memory and
hard disk is the same volumn) by calculation with aria2. This
P630(3.0GHz) is slower than that P4(2.4GHz). I use the command

cat /proc/cpuinfo

found that the cpus cache(2M) is not recognized by this kernel. It
reports cpus cache is 0Kb.

When I install FC4(kernel 2.6.11) on this machine, the cpus problem
is solved, but the software(Sparky and CNS) has problem now.

I now install Red Hat 9, then update the kernel to 2.6.10. The cpus
problem is solved and software installation is fine too.

But I will try your suggestion in my laptop. Do you mean no source
recompile is needed, just download the java, then use the prebuild
linux binary version is ok? Thanks! I will try.
