It would certainly be great to have Sparky released under an open
source license on Sourceforge. As you say, hopefully this would
encourage others to make fixes and improvements, and give the software
a new lease of life.

I would certainly try to find time to do some development, however Im
mostly a Python coder, my C++ is pretty ordinary.

I think the licensing pretty much boils down to whether you want a
BSD-style or a GPL-style license. The BSD-style allows others to
modify and redistribute forked versions of Sparky without providing
the source code, the GPL-style requires that any modified version must
also be distributed under the GPL, with source code provided.

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Thats great that you have put Sparky scripts on SourceForge.

I have been wondering whether putting Sparky on SourceForge would be
of help to outside developers. My lab is no longer in the business of
developing NMR software so I only do the most basic Sparky maintenance.
This doesnt include adding any new features. I would like to allow
others to add new features though. Along with putting Sparky on
SourceForge it would have a license that allows redistribution. These
are just ideas right now. The main obstacle is finding time to do it.
