I actually have also recently encountered this problem. I’ve used Sparky for years on my RedHat system and recently went to open some data and can see everything except a big blank space where my spectra should be (beige or blue background depending on version of Sparky; not even the black background). I’m assuming it’s related to some RedHat update, but I can’t figure out how to fix it. I installed the newer NMRFAM version of Sparky hoping that would resolve the issue, but it’s the same problem. If anyone else has encountered this with RedHat and knows how to resolve it, please let me know.

I can still use Sparky on my Mac laptop (running 10.10.5 and the old version of Sparky) however that’s not ideal for actually doing any data analysis.

Hi,

Do you have same problem in your local machine? Is that an OS specific
problem? What OS you have in your VM? You may try NMRFAM VM in your
VMWare (http://pine.nmrfam.wisc.edu/download_packages.html ). If it does
not work with the NMRFAM VM, then may be the problem is with your VMWare
settings.

Hello Everyone,

I am very new to Sparky and I recently downloaded and installed Sparky
on my VMWare virtual machine. The program opens up and I can play with
all the tool options, however, if I open my nmrpipe coverted .ucsf
file (It is an HSQC spectrum with 15N and looks good in nmrDraw), I
cannot see my spectrum even after adjusting the contour levels. I
thought the problem was with my converted file but I cannot even the
spectrum for the example files (example100.ucsf and example250.ucsf).
I am not sure what I am missing or doing wrong. I would really
appreciate if someone can help me figure this out.
