Software Embedded in UCSF Chimera

The list below includes links to where you can obtain the source-code distributions for some of the software packages incorporated into Chimera. All of this software comes bundled with the Chimera release; the links are included here mainly for completeness. In principle, you could upgrade to newer versions of these packages, but it is recommended you wait for a new Chimera release instead, primarily because we incorporate bug fixes and enchancements that may not have been added to the directly distributed versions yet.

This list is current as of 27 June 2008.

Packages:

AL2CO, AmberTools, ANTECHAMBER, Autostereo, comtypes, Expat, FFmpeg, Fontconfig, Free UCS Outline Fonts, Freetype, FTGL, HD5, JPEG, libpng, libTIFF, MDTools, Mesa, MMTK, MSMS, netCDF, NumPy, OpenSSL, PIL, POV-Ray, Pmw, pymmlib, PyOpenGL, PyTables, Python, Qhull, Scientific Python, SwishE, Tcl/Tk, Tix, Togl, TR, UnZip, VRML, zlib

Free UCS Outline fonts are a set of three fonts: a sans-serif, a serif, and a fixed width font. They are licensed with the GNU Public License v2 or later and the following exception:
"As a special exception, if you create a document which uses this font, and embed this font or unaltered portions of this font into the document, this font does not by itself cause the resulting document to be covered by the GNU General Public License. This exception does not however invalidate any other reasons why the document might be covered by the GNU General Public License. If you modify this font, you may extend this exception to your version of the font, but you are not obligated to do so. If you do not wish to do so, delete this exception statement from your version."
