Stereo

Sequential stereo is a rapid flickering between left-eye and right-eye views; special synchronized glasses are needed to obtain the three-dimensional effect. Currently, sequential stereo display must be specified at the time of Chimera startup, using the --stereo option. If (and only if) this has been done, it is possible to switch back and forth between mono viewing and sequential stereo mid-session, using the command stereo or the Camera settings panel.

Using --stereo on a Windows system when the graphics card is not configured for sequential stereo will not result in stereo display, although there may not be an explicit error message to that effect.

It is not necessary to start Chimera with the --stereo option to use side-by-side stereo (cross-eye and wall-eye) or VRex row stereo. These other types of stereo, as well as mono viewing and individual left eye and right eye views, can be accessed with the command stereo or the Camera settings panel.
