Usage:
label atom-spec

Usage:
~label atom-spec

Label displays labels for all atoms in atom-spec. The default information is atom name, but can be changed to element or atom type with labelopt info. (An atom label containing arbitrary text can be displayed by selecting the atom and entering the desired text within the Selection Inspector.) Label font and size can be set in the Background preferences.

Unlike the original Midas command, label does not show residue information; rlabel must be used to show residue information.

~Label removes atom labels.

Examples:

label #2:his@ca
- label the alpha carbons of all histidine residues in model 2
~label #2:40
- undisplay atom labels within residue 40 in model 2

A different approach may be useful if temporary labeling of a single atom or bond is desired for quick identification: if Show atomspec balloon is set to true in the General preferences, placing the cursor close to an atom or bond will cause the corresponding label information to appear and remain until the cursor is moved away.

The label command does not label bonds or pseudobonds. One way to label a bond or pseudobond is to select it and use the Selection Inspector to create or change its label.
