Currently, stereo display must be specified at the time of Chimera startup, using the --stereo option. If (and only if) this has been done, it is possible to change to and from stereo mid-session using the Camera settings panel.
Using --stereo on a Windows system when the graphics card is not configured for stereo will not result in stereo display, although there may not be an explicit error message to that effect.
