SGI Specific Problems and Workarounds

• For IRIX 6.x, use the IRIX 5.2 binaries that are on the CDROM. The following workarounds apply to IRIX 6.x as well.
• On the new Impact graphics systems, there is a bug in GL emulation that causes the control panel to be very dim. If you turn off depth-cueing ("inten 1 1" in midas), then the control panel appears as it should. In the next release, we will provide an OpenGL version of midas that does not have this problem.
• The scrcopy shell script referred to in section 3.3.7.3.2 of the installation guide, necessary for enabling the Copy menu item of the ilabel utility, is erroneous. The corrected script, which then must be customized for your site as described in the installation guide, is shown in full below:

• The videodisk shell script has a bug if you're not using the modified version of vcvlancmd. In the second alias for vlan, the $* should be replaced with \!*. The full line is as follows:

• The uncryst utility program does not run under IRIX 5.3 due to some problem with the IRIX shared libraries. If you need to run uncryst and do not have access to a pre-5.3 SGI workstation, send e-mail to midas-bugs@cgl.ucsf.edu to request a version of uncryst compiled for IRIX 5.3.
